Application Pool SecureAuth0Pool Has Been Disabled

Symptom

In the Windows System Event Log you receive an entry with Event ID 5057 and the following description "Application pool SecureAuth0Pool has been disabled. Windows Process Activation Service (WAS) did not create a worker process to serve the application pool because the application pool identity is invalid."

Cause

This issue happens when the application pool identity is not properly configured.

Resolution

There are multiple potential resolutions to this issue:

1. If the appliance was recently added to an Active Directory domain ensure that a GPO has not blocked local admin accounts, specifically the SecureAuth0 account.

2. If the appliance hostname has recently changed run the Refresh0 script.

3. Verify a proper application pool identity has been assigned to the SecureAuth0Pool by following the instructions below.

To view the application pool identity:

    1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Administrative Tools.

    2. Right-click Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and select Run as administrator.

    3. In the Connections pane on the left, expand the computer, then select the Application Pools folder underneath the computer name.

    4. In Features View, select the application pool. In the Actions pane, select Advanced Settings...

    5. Under Process Model, verify the Identity type. The default is SecureAuth0
