SecureAuth IdP Appliance issue: network connectivity lost in VMware Environment
Introduction
This article discusses an issue in which a Virtualized SecureAuth IdP Appliance running in a VMware environment intermittently loses network connectivity for brief periods.
Applies to
SecureAuth IdP Appliances on Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 in VMware environments
Symptoms
1. The SecureAuth IdP Appliance intermittently loses network connectivity
2. The following types of entries appear on the Windows System Event Log
Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection Network link is disconnected
Intel(R) 82574L Gigabit Network Connection Network link has been established at 1Gbps full duplex
Cause
SecureAuth IdP Appliances currently ship with a virtual E1000e network adapter configured and enabled
On Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2, the bundled driver for the E1000e causes issues in VMware environments
Solution
VMware does not currently have a resolution for this issue, but recommends using a VMXNET3 network adapter as a workaround
